GAVS DISCO, now also known as G D Entertainment Cymru, is a full-time mobile disco and event entertainment business led by award-winning DJ and founder Gavin Jones. With over two decades of hands-on experience, Gav and his team have become one of the most trusted and in-demand entertainment providers across North Wales.

How It All Started

Gav’s DJ journey began over 20 years ago in the legendary Paradox nightclub (now K2) in Caernarfon, where he first got the chance to experiment with DJ equipment after hours and during staff parties. His first official gig came shortly after, at the Padarn Lake Hotel in Llanberis, invited by his father, Ray John (a well-known karaoke presenter), after years of working alongside him as a roadie.

After a successful night behind the decks, Gav quickly caught the DJ bug, and started performing at more events, gaining confidence and praise. His first solo booking was at Caernarfon Football Club for a friend's engagement, followed by an anniversary party at Seiont Manor Hotel in Llanrug.

From these humble beginnings, GAVS DISCO was born in 2002.

Building a Reputation

Over the years, Gav received mentorship and support from other professionals, including DJ Ian from Power of Sound Disco in Colwyn Bay. In 2008, he became the Friday night resident DJ at Cofi Roc in Caernarfon, holding that position until 2015. By July 2009, Gav had made DJing his full-time career.

He went on to perform regularly at Bangor University’s Academi Nightclub, becoming the resident DJ for Au Night Wednesdays (from 2013) and Cheese Night Mondays (from 2016), along with hosting karaoke at Bar Uno, the university’s student bar.
